Next contender... Nginx...

Fiddling around with the new webserver, I migrated for another time.

After the apache, goes to lighttpd, now to the new one... nginx.

The mission of the migration I do is:

lite on resource. high availability. easy to maintain (config wise). easy virtual host support.

Alter all tables in all database

Recently I've upgrade the mysql version to the latest 5.1.30.

I want to convert all collation into utf8_general_ci.

Googling around, I found script to list and alter all tables in just one particular database.

Webserver to the rescue...

After several (of many!) occasions that somehow after adding more than ten virtual domain to host, the machine wend awry, several times lockup and needed to be rebooted (hard!).

The machine itself is pretty modes one: 2.66 Ghz P4 with just 512 Mb memory (sigh)

Squid 3... the saga continued...

After fiddling around a couple of tweaks and reconfigurations, I've put the 3 stable into our main backbone proxies cache... no more hiccups... except for two things:

delay pool does work as expected although still not logged correctly into the logs. still can't figure out why COSS doesnt work et all.

Squid 3... finally...

After the much anticipation release of squid 3... it's there... finally...

In a rush and hurry I implement it in our main backbone cache proxy server, adjusting here and there (mostly the configuration due to change in squid3 from squid2)...

And voila!

Up and running in no time.
